We are using Java 11 and version 2021-06 of eclipse.
Eclipse needs the JDK and JRE to compile and run your java programs. You need an oracle account to download Java; if you don't have one you can create it during the download process. Download version 11 of the Java SE Development Kit from https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/javase-jdk11-downloads.html. Choose your operating system and then download the installer. There are two options; be sure to download the installer.
To download the Eclipse IDE version 2021-12 for Java Developers, go to
https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/release/2021-12/r/eclipse-ide-java-developers
On the right are install links for Windows, Mac, and Linux. The link takes you to the download page; click the download button. Open the downloaded file.
To run eclipse, launch eclipse.exe which is in the top level Eclipse directory. For convenience you probably want to make a shortcut for Eclipse on your desktop and/or in your start menu or dock.
